Until 29 April

Our Spring Exhibition has now opened and the gallery is a riot of bright colour! Showing fresh new work from gallery artists Charlotte Cornish and Jane Walker as well as new collections of glass and ceramics, we have certainly set the tone for spring with focus on colour, texture and light.
New paintings by Daniel Ablitt and Andrew Hood will follow towards the end of April.

Charlotte Cornish
As well as the paintings on display, we have a collection of prints by Charlotte Cornish in the gallery. Charlotte Cornish is one of the UK’s leading contemporary abstract artists and her distinctive style of joyous use of colour and energetic mark-making translates beautifully into her printmaking practice. Using a mixture of etching and silkscreen printing, Charlotte’s prints have an elegance in composition and a rich vibrancy in colour that make them strikingly beautiful. Fliff Carr
Fliff Carr’s ceramics are highly sought after, her delicate work being collected avidly by gallery visitors and doesn’t stay in the gallery long. Since a young age, she has had a fascination with collecting objects and her work is inspired by the idea that artefacts represent remnants of personal histories. Fliff’s ceramics are shaped and informed by collected objects as well as details from antique book illustrations and lace. Part of the collection in the gallery is the new range decorated with a blue fern motif and gold splashes. A selection is available to see here.

Kit Anderson
Kit Anderson has a background in photography and in 2006 set up her ceramic studio, Foto Ceramica. Kit’s ceramics are born through a combined interest in surface and image. She uses a unique photo-transfer process, exploring an archive of her own accumulated photographs. Drawn to the natural world, its patterns and silhouettes, she experiments with surface and form, allowing the image to inform the work. She was awarded a research and development grant by the Arts Council, allowing her to refine and develop her innovative photographic transfer process in ceramic.
A selection of her work is available to view here.
