In preparation for Christmas, Healthy Bicester is once again launching a fun and free competition for people of all ages.
Residents in Bicester are invited to explore the main green areas in the town with the chance to win a Fitbit or a family swim pass for Bicester Leisure Centre.
As part of the Healthy New Town Programme, Cherwell District Council is launching the Christmas edition of the ‘Green Spaces Challenge’. To enter the competition residents have to visit five out of eleven green spaces marked on the flyer that is being distributed in Bicester over the next six weeks.
However, just visiting these places will not be enough to get a prize. Residents are also asked to do some exercise; walking, cycling, jogging, playing or using an outdoor gym are all fine. The deadline for completing the challenge is Monday 8 January.
Cllr Barry Wood, leader of Cherwell District Council said: “Through this challenge, we are calling for more people to explore the many green spaces in Bicester and have fun outside.
“As its winter and gets dark earlier, you only have to visit five areas marked on the map. However, residents are welcome to check out all of them if they want to make the most of the green facilities available in town.
“Bicester has a lot of nice footpaths, playgrounds, open spaces and outdoor gym equipment and we want residents to be aware of what is on hand for them. Getting outside and exploring the town’s green spaces is free and something the whole family can enjoy.”
Everyone who completes the challenge will win a Healthy Bicester mug by taking a picture in each green area while doing their activities and posting it on Facebook or Twitter, tagging #HealthyBicester.
To claim the Healthy Bicester mug and enter into a prize draw for a Fitbit and family swim vouchers, people need to email at least five photos picturing them in each green space they visited to firstname.lastname@example.org specifying where each photo has been taken.
